Running Water

Years ago, someone suggested that I exercise as a way of dealing with stress in my life. A summer free from teaching responsibilities was a few short weeks away and I decided to give myself three months to start a new habit of running. I’m glad I did. I now love to run and even though my life continues to have stressful moments, the time I spend running provides some solace and makes me feel good (most of the time).

Shortly after I started running, I began photographing the river alongside the path I usually run on. The play of light on and under the water’s surface caught my eye and taking pictures was easy enough with my phone. The forms revealed in the photographs have inspired me to make artwork generated with wind data that resonates the same way.
